Ah yes, the 2000s. A new millennium arrived, gothic and hip-hop fashion was trending, independent cinema gained popularity, Y2K paranoia and computer errors.

And also the birth of superhero movies like Spider-Man and Batman, and of course: The X-Men.

And here we are, my baby in X-Men Evolution, a series I loved and recently rewatched like twice. It took me a while because I wanted to make it as similar to the series' style as possible, and the background was the hardest part because I didn't know what to put in it, lol.

But anyway, here you have 2000s Max, a fan of science fiction and rock, and her endless crush on Kurt—she also has Sabretooth as a crush, but you should know it's nothing serious because the age difference is huge and that will never happen

Hi. I rewatched this episode and could not stop thinking bout it so I redrew the photo they take on top of the mountain and drew a “fun” one

If I had to make my own au of x men evolution, I’d make Todd based off of the Vijayan's night frog, and I’d make him really short (the frogs are tinyyyyy)

I’d also make Kurt’s tail stronger looking, and more like a monkeys tail (still with the arrow shape like a spear tho)

and I want to give kurt an arc where he learns to not insult others based off of their appearance. His arc would be slow, span a few ‘episodes’

maybe he gets stuck with Todd and has to escape an angry, mutant hating group, and they end up really far away, lost cus they were distracted with escaping

they then slowly get to know each other a bit better, learn they’re not so different, and that Todd has it harder that him in some ways

(in the au, Todd ran away from his family bc they keep ignoring his struggles (like sensitive skin that absorbs things like frog skin does, dietary needs, allergies due to his mutation, etc), but the brother hood are his family now)

and kurt just has a moment where it (the brotherhood’s behaviour) all clicks

also, the possibilities for Todd’s frog species are insane

there’s the flying frog (they actually glide tho), the glass frog, poison dart frogs ( hc that in a universe where he is a dart frog, he’d be non poisonous due to not eating the diet he’d need for his body to build up the chemicals, though he could use chemicals to do it), red eyed tree frog, purple frog, Indian bullfrog, hairy frog, etc

I like to imagine he’s tried to eat one of his friend’s (the brotherhood’s) fingers after frog brain mistook it for a worm

I don’t see art of Fred often so I decided to draw him but as a Doberman

he looked lonely so I added cat Kurt

He used to do those fair show things, so I thought cropped ears made more sense for him

Pietro Maximoff / Quicksilver

'Hey! Over here, nooo, not there, silly! Here!'

Oh he's so annoying (affectionate)

Pietro's main goal is to make you think about him wherever you are, that means bugging you constantly.

Assuming you're in the same school, he's constantly switching out your homework with blank pieces of paper, drawing messages in your books, speeding over to poke you in class knowing you can't do anything about it, etc.

It only gets worse if you're an X-Man.

During missions if you're against each other he's constantly going after you, it's gotten him in trouble with Mystique more times than he can count because he refuses to acknowledge the main purpose of the mission, instead, he only wants to annoy you.

Sometimes it's just pushing you over then zooming away, other times he constantly taunts you while running so fast you can't catch him or tell where he's going next, whatever it is, he makes sure it's enough of a bother that you start to get frustrated.

If you're in the brotherhood he can at least get missions done but you know he's bothering you the entire time, you basically end up doing all the work.

Is he flirty? Absolutely.

Expect his arm around your shoulders or waist while he talks on and on so fast you can't even catch what he's saying, but when he does slow down he's all 'You're the only one for me.' 'I love your shirt, is it new?' 'Your eyes are so beautiful, I could stare at them for hours.'

Lance and Todd are throwing up in the background.

Wanda wants to punch her brother into a separate dimension.

Fred's just chilling.

Think of him like Lance with Kitty but more focused on teasing you rather than being completely smitten, don't get him wrong, he loves you and he'd probably even make you a sandwich if you asked, but he'll be an asshole about it.

'Oh, come on, that's so much effort! Can't you just do it yourself?' but before you can answer he zooms off to do what you asked of him. 'here, I guess.' he huffs, a grin on his face as he hands you the item you requested.

Frederick J. Dukes / The Blob

'Do I have to stay with them..?'

Fred is under the assumption that it's impossible for you to like him back after what happened with Jean, of course he was pushy and unfair with her, but she also rejected him and all of the X-Men despise him. So, he doesn't exactly have many options when it comes to friendship, let alone dating, besides the Brotherhood.

Then comes you.

Whether you're an X-Man, member of the Brotherhood, Morlock, perhaps just a fellow mutant, or a human, student at school, he'll truly never believe that he has a chance.

While before he was fairly obsessive and pushy with his crushes, with you he's silent and very awkward, even if you're nice to him he expects backlash if he ever confesses.

If you're a member of the brotherhood his awkwardness is slightly less explainable and far more noticeable, you're his teammate, you spend almost all day together, yet he can hardly look at you and loudly complains when he's paired with you or left alone with you. It probably makes you feel like he hates you.

He's very embarrassed if you confront him about it.

Awkward, he stumbles over his words and is breathing a little heavy as he does so, trying his best to explain that he doesn't hate you, he's just. Well. You see.

It's a similar situation if you attend his school, human or mutant, he's very sweet to you and tends to avoid messing with you. Fred usually quiets down when you get near, almost shutting down in a way. The others tease him for it all the time.

He'll most likely try to avoid you, maybe Lance, Pietro and Todd will push him to interact with you just to 'stop him from bugging them about it', they totally just want to help him out, and it ends with him always running away in embarrassment or assuming, if you're quiet or not that reactive, that you hate him.

If you're paired in a school project, Fred will absolutely just skip school, he doesn't care, he skips class regularly anyway, no Pietro, it's not to avoid you, he's just too cool for class.

If you're an X-Man, it's very different.

Fred is under the assumption you both share a mutual hate for each other, you're enemies after all! The tightness in his chest that he's feeling is totally just violent urges, that's it, that's all, it's not the want to hold your hand, hold you, tell jokes and make you laugh, no, no, that's not it at all!

He tends to target you to try and avoid his feelings quicker, he hates hurting you, but throwing you away from him, physically, makes sure he won't get distracted by you.

Fred ends up crying in his room when he goes home because he's afraid he hurt you.

Heck, even the other members of the brotherhood just want him to get with you already. Lance is especially eager because he won't be the only one being made fun of for dating an X-Man.

Eventually it does spill somehow and I'd imagine he would try to run away from you, maybe you catch up or explain to him later on, whichever one, he'll get very happy when you confirm you share feelings for him. He practically fixates on you so hard that you're the only thing he talks about.

Todd Tolansky / Toad

'Hey, how it's goin', beautiful?'

He proceeds to fall down on his face.

Todd is a bit of a creep, constantly following you around and showing off his nonexistent muscles, telling the most unfunny jokes and pulling pranks on people in an attempt to impress you.

He doesn't smell nice, he's been told this his entire life, that he's slimy, disgusting, every insulting name under the sun. As such, he decides to at least try and take a shower more often for you, to make you less likely to avoid him, of course!

Todd has a big grin on his face every time he talks to you, bouncing off his feet like he's just won the lottery. He's also very, very flirty, just not that good at flirting.

His pick up lines are very 'the immediate Google search results for pick up lines.' type of cheesy, very stereotypical and eye rolling.

If you're an X-Man, member of the Brotherhood, human, mutant, etc, it doesn't matter much to him, he treats you the exact same. The only real difference is how much time he spends around you.

In the brotherhood he does try to avoid flirting in front of the guys to avoid embarrassment or teasing, but surprisingly he does ask for a lot of advice regularly. It usually never goes well, Lance and Pietro tend to just give very wrong or confusing tips and Fred doesn't really have any to give in the first place.

If you're an X-Man he tries to impress you by fighting your teammates, usually he loses, but sometimes he does win! He'll pose and ask if he's just the coolest guy or what. Todd doesn't like fighting you but he will, because unfortunately Mystique is absolutely terrifying and he doesn't want to face her wrath.

In school he likes to ask for your help, constantly bugging you about how he just desperately needs your assistance to study for this test coming up, which to be fair he does. But, if you agree to help him, he doesn't actually try. He just flirts with you the entire time.

His crush is obvious, incredibly so, even the most clueless of individuals would know he loves you because he says it directly every single day. He doesn't exactly need to 'confess' per say, all you really need to do is accept his flirting or flirt back, maybe ask him out yourself.

ROGUE FROM X-MEN: EVOLUTION!!

As someone who was/is born a mutate. Those people raised me and help me feel not alone. If anyone thinks any of these things about X-men, then you’ve definitely missed the point of X-men.

You know when someone is severely missing the point of xmen when:

·They call toad disgusting

·they say that kurt,mystique,beast, or any other appearance based mutation are ugly

·they are racist, homophobic, transphobic, or any other form of bigotry.

Sometimes i just see people watching it and not even thinking about it. Like if you are calling toad gross (for one no toads adorable) youre just as bad as the bigots in xmen.

When you speak of trans people and that they are gross or that they shouldnt be allowed in bathroom or even in schools you are just as bad as senator kelly.

If you sit and watch Bobby's parents ask "have you ever considered just... Not being a mutant?" And think theyre in the wrong but then go say practically the same thing to youre LGBTQIA+ kid, you missed the point.

If you think people avoiding physical appearance based mutations and hold their children closer to them and think thats wrong but then do the same with a POC at the grocery store YOU MISSED THE POINT

I dont know im probably rambling but like bigots who like xmen are just like so stupid lol

Synopsis: When a charming newcomer to the team takes a little too much interest in you, Kurt Wagner finds himself battling an unfamiliar feeling—jealousy. His usual calm demeanor wavers as he awkwardly tries to mask his growing frustration. Despite his best efforts to stay composed, his swishing tail and brooding glances give him away. It doesn’t take long for you to notice, and when you confront him about it, he shyly admits his feelings, afraid he might have overstepped. Reassuring him that your heart belongs to him, you manage to turn his jealousy into a moment of tenderness, leaving Kurt flustered but undeniably happy.

His attempt at nonchalance failed miserably as his gaze returned to you, watching as the newcomer made you laugh—a laugh Kurt adored hearing. He tried to busy himself by sipping his soda, only to realize he’d drained the can in one go.

“Are you okay, Wagner? You look like you’re gonna pop a vein,” Logan grumbled, not bothering to hide his smirk.

“I am fine,” Kurt insisted, though his tail betrayed him by thumping against the floor.

Finally, you noticed Kurt’s unusual behavior. Excusing yourself from the conversation, you crossed the room and plopped into the empty seat beside him. “What’s with all the glaring?” you teased, leaning a little closer.

“I was not glaring,” he protested, though his ears flushed a deeper blue.

“Oh, really? Then what do you call this?” You mimicked his brooding expression, furrowing your brows and squinting your eyes.

He sighed, his tail curling around one of the chair legs. “I suppose... I may have been a little jealous,” he admitted, avoiding your gaze. “You are...very special to me, and I did not like the way they were looking at you.”

A warm smile spread across your face. “Kurt, you don’t have to worry about that. I was just being polite. Besides...” You placed a gentle hand on his arm. “You’re the only one who gets my attention like that.”

His golden eyes lit up at your words, the tension in his shoulders melting away. “Really?”

“Really.”

Kurt’s tail unwound from the chair and hesitantly wrapped around your wrist, a shy but affectionate gesture that made your heart flutter. His smile, wide and full of relief, was worth every moment of teasing him earlier.

Unable to resist the adorable way his ears flushed and his golden eyes lit up, you leaned closer and pressed a soft kiss to his cheek.

Kurt froze, his tail snapping upright before swinging sharply to the side—and knocking over the chair he had been sitting on moments ago.

The loud clatter turned every head in the room, but Kurt’s wide, sheepish grin as he looked back at you made it impossible for you to feel embarrassed.

“Was that your tail or the chair’s fault this time?” you teased, biting back a laugh.

“It is both,” he stammered, ears darkening to an even deeper blue. “But mostly the tail.”

His flustered reaction only made you laugh harder, leaning into him as he rubbed the back of his neck. Even with the eyes of the room on you both, Kurt’s gaze never left yours, his smile growing softer by the second.

The mission had been an absolute disaster—or at least that’s how it felt. Every step back into the X-Mansion was like dragging lead weights, and your entire body screamed for rest. You had enough energy to kick off your boots but not enough to make it to your room. Instead, you flopped onto the couch in the common room, burying your face into a throw pillow with a muffled groan.

The familiar whoosh of displaced air and the sound of a chip bag crinkling were your only warning before Peter Maximoff appeared, standing over you like some kind of smug vending machine mascot.

“Well, well, look who’s all tuckered out,” he teased, dropping onto the couch beside you.

You didn’t bother lifting your head. “Go away, Peter.”

“Nah,” he said, already popping a chip into his mouth. “This is way more entertaining. Plus, I brought snacks. You should be thanking me.”

“I can’t even move,” you muttered, your voice muffled by the pillow.

Peter snorted, tossing the bag of chips onto the coffee table. “Then it’s a good thing I’m here. Move over.”

You turned your head just enough to squint at him. “What?”

“Scoot,” he repeated, nudging your shoulder. “You look like you need some of my patented Peter Maximoff TLC. And by that, I mean cuddles.”

“Since when do you cuddle anyone?”

“Since now,” he said with a grin. “Come on, don’t make me beg. It’s undignified.”

With a dramatic sigh, you shifted over slightly, allowing him to wedge himself beside you. He wasted no time draping an arm around your shoulders and pulling you against his chest, tugging the blanket from the back of the couch to cover both of you.

“There. Cozy, right?” he said, leaning back and resting his head against the couch.

You let out a small laugh despite yourself. “This is weirdly nice.”

“‘Weirdly nice’ is my middle name,” Peter quipped, his hand coming up to trace absentminded circles on your arm.

For a guy who couldn’t sit still for more than five seconds, Peter had a surprisingly calming presence. The tension in your shoulders started to melt away, and you found yourself sinking deeper into the cushions.

“Thanks, Pete,” you murmured, your voice soft.

He looked down at you, his usual smirk replaced by something gentler. “Hey, you did good out there. Don’t let your brain tell you otherwise, okay?”

You gave a small nod, your eyes growing heavy.

“Go ahead and sleep,” he said, pressing a quick kiss to your temple. “I’ll stick around, just in case you need me.”

The last thing you heard before drifting off was the sound of him quietly humming some old 80s song, the warmth of his arm around you lulling you into peace.

Falling Into Place

Synopsis: While accidentally phased out, you overhear Kurt confiding in someone about his feelings for you, leaving you frozen with shock. As soon as they leave, you phase back to solid form, locking eyes with a very startled Kurt, who realizes you heard every word.

You had not meant to eavesdrop—it was supposed to be a quick shortcut through the wall. But before you could pull away, you heard Kurt’s voice, softer and more hesitant than usual, drifting from the other side.

“She has my heart,” he was saying quietly, almost to himself. “I cannot help it. I have tried to keep it to myself, but… I want to tell her one day.”

Your breath caught as his words sank in, your mind racing with the impossible thought that he might feel the same way you did. The moment his teammate left, you tried to phase out, but your emotions got the better of you, snapping you back to full form right in the hallway.

Kurt turned, wide-eyed as he saw you standing there, surprise flooding his expression. “You heard?” he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

You nodded, unable to find the words at first. The warmth in his gaze urged you on, and you finally managed to speak. “Kurt, I feel the same way. I have for a while now.”

Relief washed over him, and a gentle smile spread across his face. “Really? That makes me so happy,” he replied, his voice brightening.

He took a slow step forward and gently reached for your hand, intertwining his fingers with yours, his touch both warm and steady. “I was worried I had waited too long,” he admitted softly.

“There,” he murmured, his gaze steady and sincere. “Now we both know.”

With a tender squeeze, he held your hand close, as if he had been waiting all this time just for this moment by your side.
