Redditors competing to make the worst volume sliders possible...
So, if you haven't checked out my tips for volume, I recommend doing that, but if you're here to find out my one tip, stick with me. When I wrote that I was just starting to get curls on the top of my head, but it was only today evening I truly realized what was holding me, or my hair back. Plopping. Yep, you heard it right. Plopping. It's not that plopping is bad- It's extremely convenient and a great way for your hair to dry faster- But when your hair is bunched up like that, it also gets pressed down causing the roots to flatten, and there's pretty much no coming back once that's gone. The fact that I have coarse, oily and low porosity hair may all have an impact in this, but for me it just doesn't work. When I stopped this I got immediate results, but I never realized just why until now. Instead of plopping, just micro-plop, it's that easy!
So, if this is something you are struggling with, I suggest avoiding it and seeing how much of a difference it makes.
Hope you all are having an amazing day, and remember, you're all beautiful!!
If you're anything like me, then volume is probably something you've struggled with when starting your curly girl journey, or maybe it's something you still struggle with? There's a bunch of different products out there to help, but if you're on a budget or don't want to spend any more, look no further!
Just after washing your hair, scrunch as much of the water as you can out with your hands.
If your hair gets oily easily, don't apply mousse or gel directly near your roots. This will weigh them down.
When applying mousse/gel, flip your hair to one side, then apply. Then do the same to ther other side and lastly do it upside down.
After doing your final steps after your wash (for me that is after mousse) do NOT touch your hair too much, especially near the root. This flattens mine and they don't curl up well after!
By cheap alligator clips for your hair (the double prong ones). These only cost a few dollars and are really helpful when it comes to lifting up those gorgeous curls at the roots.
Don't over do it with the plopping. I find that this can flatten my roots.
Pineapple your hair overnight. This creates volume and there's tons of tutorials on YouTube on how to do it.
If you need your hair to look great next-day then I have the perfect trick that always works. Wash it the day before your event, and instead of scrunching out the mousse/gel, leave it in and pineapple your hair overnight. Then on the next day, scrunch it out an you'll be sure to have amazing curls that hold for days!
When scrunching out the crunch, do it with your hair flipped over to the side instead of upside down. I have no idea why this works, but my hair started having amazing results after I did this.
Apply a little bit of hair oil in scrunching motions to lift it up. This also helps control frizz very well. Make sure to not apple to roots.
I really hope that this has been helpful and that you guys can learn a few tips and tricks that have really helped me along my curly girl journey so far! Thank you so much for supporting this blog! ❤❤❤
it has to be divisible by 4 thank you very much
dear autistic / audhd people out there, which volume is pleasant to your ears and tell me why it has to be odd numbers?
Some mischief xD

As a repeated jellybean counting contest winner, I wanted to share with you all my secret so that you can win prizes too this holiday season.
As a young child and adult, I have used this method and won each time. You can guess the volume in this odd unit using these steps.
Identify the shape of the jar. Is it a cube, rectangular prism or a cylinder?
What I'm describing below is for a cylinder, the most common jar shape.
First, obtain RADIUS: If you are allowed to touch and pick up the jellybean jar, you can count jellybeans in a straight line across the bottom of the jar. If you are disallowed from touching the container, just count across the the top in a straight line. The full line across of this circle is known as the diameter. Half the line across is known as the radius. You can count all the way across and then divide in half. You may be cutting the jellybean in half and get a decimal when you do this. No problem.
Second, count your HEIGHT: This is the easy step. You just count the front face of the container. Count jellybeans in a straight line up the side of the jar. This is your height.
Plug and calculate: For a cylinder jar, your volume can be found by calculating 3.14 x RADIUS² x HEIGHT.
So multiply your radius first since PEMDAS tells us the exponent needs dealt with first. Squaring a number is just that number multiplied by itself. After you have that, multiply by pi and by the jellybean height.
The answer you get could be a fraction or decimal. More than likely, the person who put the jellybeans in the jar did not include halved beans. So round up your number if it ends in .5 or higher. And round down to the nearest whole number if it ends in .4 or lower.
**If you have a complex jar shape, mentally cut the jar where the shapes change! Then calculate using the different volume formulas.
I hope this helps someone win a gift card or impress someone at a Christmas party!
