All of My Opinions on the Mean Girls Musical Movie

Firstly, loved all the original film references. Of course the obvious ones like having the same lines, the thing about fetch being slang from an old movie, but also!!

. Janis' suit being purple for spring fling!! and omg let's not even talk about how pretty Aul'il Cravalho was throughout the entire film. Her eye make-up was so impressive

. that part in Sexy where they're cycling through potential outfits and one of them is the white shirt with the purple bra holes cut out !!

Slightly upset about the fact they cut out Meet the Plastics and it ended up being more like, Meet Regina, but I get that. On the topic of songs, I understand a lot of them were cut out because they were "too theatrical" but I can still miss em!! Truthfully when I heard the new Stupid With Love I was devastated because it's one of my favourite songs and they fucking tiktokified it, but I actually think it works really well in the film- it gets the "cringy first proper love" aspect across, which is its purpose, so I'm happy.

THEY GOT RID OF "WHO HERE HAS EVER FELT PERSONALLY VICTIMISED BY REGINA GEORGE" which was absolutely criminal

AND THE PRINCIPAL AND MS NORBURY ARE TOGETHER which was actually adorable, and I didn't think about the fact that could be something that happened, but I'm very happy it did.

The bus at the end of Rather Be Me was such a jumpscare but also so funny. THEY MISSED OUT THE DIALOGUE TO DO IT THOUGH SADD. Plus she was so goofy that entire song?? Why was she running in and out of all of those random rooms.

The rumours spreading via phones looked half cool, but it's dated the film imo, which is what Tina Fey originally set out to avoid! Like "fetch" was made up slang so in years to come the film wouldn't seem cringy for having slang teens actually used to use at the time.

Big drum-roll: We did not see enough of Regina's meanness to actually justify her being a mean girl. A lot of it got filtered out through songs, and the majority of stuff was just her, like, responding badly to sexism?? Also tell me how I'm gonna villanise Renee Rapp she fucking SLAYED what a queen.

Also WHERE IS COACH CARR'S SEXUAL ASSAULT. THAT'S THE WHOLE REASON MS NORBURY GETS ARRESTED!!?? That, to me, is one of the biggest indicators in the original film of just how powerful the "Mean Girls" are, they know about this, and the other teachers don't. Not only that, but it highlights just how immature they are, because they don't do anything about it. They're girls who run the school, without having any sympathy or context to do something about bad stuff they know happens. It's just "a funny thing to write". Not having that made me sad tbh.

Changing the line to "you wrote this" in World Burn was clever but I wish we got to see more of the girls turning on each other, rather than direct fighting.

KEVIN G BEST SONG IN THE MUSICAL

Where was the 4 way phone call, DEVASTATING. We literally did not see the plastics actually interact with each other. There was no meanness, no impact, all we got were the "events" when OTHER THINGS HAPPEN. You could say it lost a lot of filler, but the filler was actually context! And part of what makes the film so good!

Devastated she doesn't say "damn you're mine" in Someone Gets Hurt. I do think it's hilarious they just didn't make the actor guy for Aaron sing at all lol

"That filter you use looks just like me" WHY. I appreciate the change from the line about weight but like, this DOES NOT MAKE SENSE. at least say "that filter you use has nothing on me" THE WHOLE POINT IS SHE'S ABOVE IT

I didn't like the extended version of Revenge Party, sorry, too used to the old version

And I did not like the girlbossification of Sexy. I get it's supposed to be powerful like "watch me as I run the world in shoes I cannot walk in" but I feel like the whole point of "I expect to run the world in shoes I cannot walk in" is supposed to point out the irony, like, being slightly critical of "modern feminism". I will say though that the wobble from avantika as she says that is superb.

Overall I thought the film was enjoyable and a nice blend of the original film and the musical, but I think both ended up losing individual meaning because of how much they intersect. You don't have time to appreciate the lyrics and power of the musical because you don't hear them all, and some of them get cut, and you can't follow the plot in a meaningful way because the songs are happening, and they skip a lot of context to fit them in.

Would totally watch it again though, if only to see Renee Rapp say "get in loser" cos she actually nailed that

Does anybody notice how in mean girls Regina complains how she has “man shoulders” and has to wear outfits that hide them, but when she puts the school in chaos with the burn book she wears this shirt highlighting them? She looks so powerful then, it’s such a nice costuming detail💖

The last thing you remember is being at a party with your friend, Regina crashing the party during your smoke sesh and catching you while you were in your state of uncontrollable bliss. Smoke sesh

It was the weekend and all you wanted to do was go home and smoke a blunt. The week was catching up to you but it wasn't anything you couldn't handle. Unfortunately for you the plastics were causing trouble in the cafeteria and all you wanted to do was eat lunch and dip to the next period. While standing in the lunch line to grab your food you felt eyes on you. You groaned not wanting to have a confrontational awkward ass conversation with anyone so you just kept to yourself. Finally getting your food you walked across the cafeteria passing the plastics and sitting in front of them by your table. "Hey loser". You heard a familiar voice say behind you. You sighed to yourself and turned around slowly. "wassup"? You asked. "cmere". Regina said playfully. You stood up and walked towards her carefully watching Gretchen and Karen. "I have no plans this weekend, what about you"? She asked. "Im just catching up on a smoke sesh you feel me, I ain't got nothin on my plate." You said chillin. "why don't you come to my place and we can have a smoke sesh together". She purred smirking to herself.

Sleepover at Regina George's house

after school Regina invited you to her house for a sleepover, the weekend was approaching so you figured why the hell not your parents wouldn't really give a damn anyway. You were definitely feeling her and she was feeling you. Upon approaching regina and the girls she dismissed them and told them to respectfully fuck off and leave with whoever else to see them later. She hopped in the pink jeep and turned to look at you. "get in loser". She smirked. You hopped inside and road home with her. Your type of course was veeeery layed back. You wore slides, grey sweats, an oversized hoodie and a beanie almost everyday. But what caught her eye was the pink and black outfit you had on that day. Pink oversized hoodie with a black beanie and black sweats with pink slides. The hoodie read Barbies bitch across the front so you can see why it attracted her. "so Jaden is it"? She asked. "wassup"? You asked. "how long have you been going to this school? She asked curiously, quite literally speeding home. "about a couple months now. Was a transfer. Why"? You asked. She shook her head and shrugged softly. "well shit it's not like your not the hottest fucking living creature roaming the halls in school. I mean you literally talk to no one, sit with no one. It's like you just carry yourself." She said. "yuh, I mean I'm chillin". You said smiling softly. She knew off the bat you were a stoner and she had a plan. Pulling into her driveway she took you with her upstairs and set the mood with some chill music and turned the lights off turning the LEDs she got for Christmas on. A soft pink color cascaded the room and you immediately lit a pre-rolled blunt from your pocket. "you don't mind if I hit this do you"? You asked. She bit her lip and shook her head. You inhaled taking a huge hit and let it sit for a while until finally you exhaled and blew the smoke out your nose, merely inches away from Regina's face. "oh hey". You said softly. "hey". She said. Your eyes trailed down from her eyes to her lips and she got the message fairly quickly. She placed a soft kiss on your lips softly biting your bottom lip and letting a moan slip through her throat first. You were so high to figure out what was going on but let her do her thing. You put your hands on her waist letting her take control to see where things could potentially go. "Jaden you are so fuckin hot you know that daddy"? She said straddling your lap. Smirking softly to yourself you tugged the bottom of her shirt and she let you take it off of her. Taking another hit of the blunt and carefully putting it back onto the ashtray you pulled her closer to you and softly needed at her beautiful round boobs, sucking on her already hard nipples letting them go with a pop. "fuck J" she moaned. You stood up with her on your lap turning around to lay her down on the bed. "wait. Don't move". She said. "lemme look at you". She said biting her lip. She slowly pulled down your sweats taking you in her hand and giving you a firm tug. You were so high all you could feel was a wave of warmth rush over you. You softly moaned and whimpered as she strokes you getting you hard enough for you to put it down on her just like she wants it. "are you ready baby"? She asked. You nodded and climbed on top of her giving back the kiss she gave you the first time. "please". She whispered. You slid inside of her with ease, vision going blurry, head filling with clouded thoughts but clear enough to see. She trailed her hands all the way down your torso to your ass. "oh my god". She moaned. You started off slow and sensual, wanting her to feel all of you. You didn't ever want her to forget any of this. She leaned in close to whisper in your ear. *beep beep* you hear someone honking outside “that must be Damian” Cady says grabbing her backpack “oh ok I’ll be right there I left my headphones in my room” you say quickly going to your room to grab your headphones then running down stairs and getting in the backseat of Damian’s car. “Heyyy (y/n)” “hi Damian” “ok so we’re gonna pick up Janis then heading to the school and making sure you have your schedule then meet up with the rest of the group” Cady says buckling up in the front seat “sounds good to me” you say buckling up

You guys got to Janis’ house and Damian honked his horn. It took about 3 minutes before Janis clumsily stumbled out her front door and to the car “hi” Janis said with an awkward smile as you two made eye contact “hey” you said with a smile on your face as she sat next to you

You guys get to the school and Cady takes you straight to the office telling the others you’ll be back in a minute. “Hello excuse me miss?” Cady says trying to get the lady at the desk’s attention “oh hello dear do you need help with something?” The lady asks “yes my cousin in new here and I just wanted to make sure she has a schedule and that all of her credits transferred from her old school” “oh I can check that right now, what’s you name dear?” The lady asks you “(y/n), (y/n) heron” “ah yep you’re right there and all your credits seem to all be in order, would you like me to print out your schedule now?” “Yes please” Cady answers for you. The lady gives you your schedule and you and Cady head over to the rest of the group to hang out before school starts. “Hey we’re back” cady says enthusiastically “good morning here are your drinks” Regina says handing each of you your cups “thank you Regina” you say sitting down next to Janis who is sketching and drinking her coffee with headphones on not paying attention. You lean on her shoulder trying to get a glance at her sketchbook, accidentally starling her “AH OH MY GOD” “oh um sorry I didn’t mean to startle you” you say feeling really bad and scooting away a little “fuck sorry I didn’t mean to scream like that” she says taking off her headphones “it’s my fault, don’t apologize, I should’ve tapped you before invading your space” you say feeling like an idiot “it’s ok…do you want to see what I was drawing?” she asks hoping you’ll say yes “oooo yes I’d love to” you say scooting close to her again, she shows you some of her more recent projects. While you two were talking the rest of the group was observing you two from a small distance. “You guys are seeing this right?” Regina said with a small laugh “if you’re referring to Janis being a dorky lesbian then yes I see it” Damian says smiling a little “you know (y/n) isn’t normally this close with people, she normally keeps a decent amount of physical distance but this, this is definitely new” Cady adds to the conversation. You and Janis are practically in your own world, laughing and talking about her different art pieces and the inspiration behind them “wait so you’re telling me that you made this based off a Kids cartoon you were watching while high as fuck?” You say looking at a very colorful detailed drawing that had some embroidery on it “yeah and surprisingly I didn’t stab myself making it” Janis says laughing a bit then making eye contact with you for a few seconds before you both turned away, you looked at your hands and Janis looked up at the sky “Hey (Y/n) what classes did you get?” Regina asks and you hand her your schedule “ooo yay we all have the same home room, break, and lunch this year” Gretchen says looking over Regina’s shoulder at your schedule Gretchen already had everyone else’s schedule memorized since they all got their schedules over break. “Art and theater, that’s the gayest thing I’ve seen since Damian” Regina half joked “we literally have every other class together plus break and lunch, I guess you’ll be seeing me a lot” Janis said with a laugh “that’s honestly really cool, I’ll have someone fun in at least half my classes” you say with a wink

*ring* *ring* “well that’s the bell let’s head to homeroom” Cady says with a smile putting on her backpack and holding Regina’s hand while you all walk to class, you and Janis are in the back of the group walking close to each other but both focused on your phones, you’re texting your friend from back home and Janis is looking at what yarn to buy for her new project. Once you guys get to homeroom the group decided to sit together until they inevitable get separated for talking too much. “Good Morning class, happy Monday, My name is Mrs. Norbury and I will be your home room teacher this year, I was just informed we have a new student here from Florida so everyone please welcome (Y/N) and be kind to her” Mrs. Norbury says “thank you Mrs. Norbury” you say a little awkward Cady kindly puts her hand on your shoulder to comfort you. The class goes by pretty quickly. “So we’ll see you guys after this class, meet at the tree as usual?” Janis asks “yeah I’m so glad we all have A break and lunch this year” Cady says with a smile then gives you a hug “see you later (Y/N)” “bye cads, bye guys” you say before turning to Janis “follow me” Janis says sticking out her hand for you to grab and you do. You to get to class and sit next to each other in the back of the class. The teacher passes out a get to know you worksheet which you finish quickly then pull out your sketchbook to doodle. You’re doodling for like 10 minutes when you feel a light tap on your shoulder, it’s Janis you look at her a little confused then she shows you her sketchbook, it’s a small sketch of the friend group and to your surprise you see an in progress sketch of yourself. This causes you to blush a little, you’re not exactly sure why but you face definitely felt warm and there was definitely butterflies in your stomach “woah that’s really cool” you say quietly “thank you” Janis says turning away quickly, was Janis- no she couldn’t be blushing from such a simple compliment. The rest of class is pretty quiet with you two showing each other progress from your sketches. Class ended and you went to your next class saying good bye to Janis. Math went quickly and before you know it, it was break so you head to the tree from this morning to meet with the rest of the group. “So how’s everyone’s first day of senior year going so far?” Aaron asks “good, really chill” says Janis “for me it’s been going by really fast but it’s fun” you say “oh my goodness I can’t believe how easy today has been” Gretchen says with a sleepy Karen leaning on her “honestly a lot more boring than I expected” Regina says fixing her hair “I’m having an amazing day, that cute theater boy that I’ve been talking to has 4 classes with me” Damian says really happy “ooo ok Damian” you say hyping him up a bit “I am not having fun, I want to go home” Karen says leaning more into Gretchen “aw Karen what’s wrong?” Regina asks concerned “someone called her stupid because she asked what day it was when it was written on the board” Gretchen says holding Karen close “don’t listen to them Karen, they don’t know you, you’re incredibly smart and amazing, ok?” Janis says upset, Karen smiles a little very appreciative of Janis caring so much. You almost smile at how defensive Janis got for Karen seeing this caring side of her melted your heart in the best way. The break ended and you headed to study hall with Janis since none of your teachers were crazy enough to give you homework on the first day you and Janis talked quietly in the back about the different types of art she liked and how she does a lot of mixed media art. Every time you talk to Janis about art it feels like you two are the only two people on earth and like time stop. When the period ended she decided to walk you to theater since her class was in the same direction. Though you haven’t known her that long Janis made you feel really special, it was weird you felt like you didn’t need to put your walls up to protect yourself, you were just you. Exchanging goodbyes and saying you’d see each other at lunch. Theater was fun and easy, you played a name game

you played a name game so everyone could introduce themselves and then a few other games. The bell rang. Lunch time!

The cafeteria was honestly kind of chaotic but you ended up spotting Cady’s red hair very easily. You sat across from Cady knowing Regina would be siting next to her “hey cads” “hi (y/n) how were your classes?” “Good, how about yours?” “Eh pretty boring” Regina, Gretchen, and Karen come over giggling about something “I’m gonna go get cheese fries does anyone else want anything while I’m up?” Regina says “water please” you say and she gives you a nod “hmm i don’t know surprise me?” Cady says with a shrug. Regina leaves Gretchen and Karen follow as Damian and Aaron come over “no dude I’m telling you sports are way less complicated than that” Aaron says trying to convince Damian to watch some sport game with him “hey Damian where’s Janis?” You say a little worried “oh she’s in the art room she wanted to ask Ms. Jones if she had some yarn Janis could use” “oh ok…is she coming to lunch?” “Yeah she should be back in like 5? minutes” a few minutes later Regina, Karen, and Gretchen come to the table then Janis comes over and sits next to you taking one of your chips “Hey!” You say moving your chip bag away from her and she laughs “what you can’t share 1 chip with me?” Janis jokes “I can but you could’ve at least asked silly” you say laughing a bit “ok after school we should totally go to Regina’s house” Karen said “oh absolutely, my mom said that she misses you guys” Regina say.

Art class goes the same as all of the other classes you’ve had with Janis but this time you paint it’s really good quality paint especially since it’s from the school. You and Janis have been close all day. “Alright last class of the day, have fun” Janis says “you too, see you at Damian’s car?” You say “yeah see you later” she gives your hand a small squeeze then heads off to her class. You were definitely blushing from that, ugh this girl has only been your friend for 3 days but this felt different a good difference.

Regina👛: y’all wanna go swimming? Today has been pretty warm and as you all know my pool is heated plus there’s a jacuzzi so like if you don’t want to go in the pool we could just chill

I'm home alone when I get a text from my cousin saying she is outside and needs my help.

I walk down the black spray painted metal spiral staircase that connects my room that's in the loft to the 2nd floor of the house. I rush down the 2nd set of stairs and unlock the door, Regina comes crashing through the door in a frantic pace.

"Whoa, you okay? what's happening?" I ask concerned

"What's going on with milo and Janis? Are they dating or not?" she asks agitated

"Erm, I'm not sure if they are dating however I know they both have feelings for each other, why? "

She paces back and forth having an internal conflict debating weather to tell me what's on her mind or not

"I think .."

"I -"

"OH MY GOD SPIT IT OUT ALREADY" I exclaim

"Ihaveacrushonmilo" she says

"YOU WHAT!?"

" I KNOW I KNOW"

"BUT YOUR WITH AARON"

As I am about to say something, my phone rings. I look at the caller ID and see that it is Cady, and I show Regina and she gives me a nod to answer.

"Hey girl, what's up?" I ask

"You will never guess what... JANIS AND MILO ARE DATING!" she screams down the phone that I have to pull it away from my ear.

oh no I thought to myself, I whipped my head and looked at Regina and the look on her face told me she heard it. Face like thunder she grabs her things and storms through the front door and before I could stop her she slams the door in my face.

"You had to say that loud didn't you" I hung up the phone and run out the door and see Regina getting in her car. I quickly run over and open the passenger door.

"Hey, are you okay?"

"Never been better" she says with a devilish smile, obviously concocting one of her devious plans.

"hey, Gina, don't do anything you will regret at the end of it okay" knowing what I won't stop her but hopefully will make her think about it.

"Don't worry I won't" she says still grinning and leaning across the passenger side to shut the door and drives away.

I am running around on the pitch practicing my tackles when I see a familiar face walking towards the bench. Aaron Samuels, every time I look at him my heart skips a beat, and I know it so wrong to feel this way about my best friend's brother and my cousins boyfriend, but it just feels so right. I walk up to him and grab my water off the bench and look up at him and I notice his beautiful ocean eyes are red and puffy.

"hey are you alright?" I ask softly as we both go to sit on the bench.

"Regina just broke up with me" he says heartbroken.

"oh Aaron I am so sorry, do you want to talk about it ?"

"No not really just needed to see a kind face right now, and I remembered that you have rugby practice and well my feet did the rest"

He lifts his head and looked me in the eyes and I gave him an encouraging smile.

That's when an idea popped into my head, and I bent down to take off my boots and put my trainers back on. I stand up and take his hands into mine and pull him off the bench.

"Come on, we are going to the beach" I say with a smile.

Before I moved away when I was younger, me, Milo and Aaron would always run to the beach at every chance we got, it became our place, a place where we could find escapism and just breath and let go of the pressure of the world. Yes I know its hard to think that we had troubles at a young age but if you have met my cousin you would know that she has been Queen Bee since she left the womb, well in my world she has been. Always the favourite, the prettiest out of the both of us, while I just got forgotten about. This is why I loved our beach days because no matter what when we were there it was just us and together and no one got forgotten about.

When me and Aaron arrive at the beach I could tell that his face started to light up a bit, a slight smile starting to crack through his stone like features. I jump out of the car and run over to the passenger side and dragged him out. We ran down the little sandy path towards the sound of crashing waves.

"The last one there is a rotten egg" I say giggling while running.

"Hey no fair you got a head start"

"I don't make the rules" I say sticking out my tongue in a playful way.

As I am running I kick off my shoes and take off my socks. Aaron follows my lead just before I go to jump into the water, I take off my sports crop top, leaving me in my sports bra and sport shorts. Just as I am about to splash my feet in the brisk sea water, when I feel a pair of arms wrap around my stomach and lift me off the floor, swinging me in a circle.

He carries me in to the water with him, him making first contact with the water.

"Hey no fair I was here first" he loosened his grip so I was able to turn and face him.

Still in his grip he says "I don't make the rules" with a grin spread across his face.

"There's the Aaron I know and love, don't you ever let yourself cry over a girl who doesn't know what she had right in front of her, even if she was my cousin"

we stare in to each others eyes the space between us becoming less and less. As he still holds me by the waist we float in the water, on of his hands leave my waist and brushes the hair out of my face, looking deep into my eyes as he leans in and places a soft kiss on to my lips.

Regina lifts an eyebrow, wanting to maintain a serene expression while her heart beats like crazy. "To kiss someone?"

"To kiss you," Janis whispers.
