Ok jimin.. my money, my life, my heart is yours... ❤
i love prince eric. from the little mermaid. he’s hilarious. because he seems like one of the most mild-mannered and unassuming princes in the disney canon, but he is also one of the few to actively kill the bad guy. most disney villains die by consequence of the final battle but are not directly killed by the hero/heroine. most of them fall to their deaths or cause their own demise, and sometimes the hero is indirectly responsible because they’ll launch them into that direction or something, but they still don’t bring knife to heart directly.
but then a couple do. and prince eric is my fave out of those few because up until the final act, he is the most chill motherfucker u ever seen. like he is quick to spring to action during the storm scene n stuff, but otherwise? he’s really quiet n sensitive and runs along the beach playing the flute for his big shaggy dog n he smiles like a lil nerd and gets all cute around ariel and he’s so sweet n everything.
AND THEN IN THE FINAL BATTLE THAT MOTHERFUCKER STRAIGHT UP DRIVES A SHIP THROUGH URSULA LIKE WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!!!! NO WONDER NO ONE IS TRYIN TO LAY SIEGE TO HIS KINGDOM!! ALL THE NEIGHBOURS ARE LIKE “HOLY SHIT DON’T GO THERE! PRINCE ERIC IS A BEAST! HE’LL STRAIGHT UP DRIVE A BOAT THROUGH YOUR BITCH!”

“Eric is the only Disney character I feel sorry for when he’s insulted, and he’s not even my favorite disney character, at all. I just feel he’s a really sweet, genuine guy who would genuinelly be hurt by negative feedback, unlike the others who I could see just brushing it off.”
To be fair, animated Eric was probably shocked Ariel that became a mermaid. If my S/O suddenly turned into a mermaid, I would be shocked too.
Also, animated Eric is just as good as the live action version. Even though animated Eric had lesser screentime than his live action counterpart, he still showed enough great personality. He's adventurous, humble, brave, kind, shy, a dork and a hopeless romantic. Heck, he's willing to risk his life by returning to a burning ship to save his dog and impaling a giant sea witch to save his lover.
In conclusion: Both Erics are amazing in their own ways and we should stop bashing the animated version while praising the live action one.

I was just reading this dumb article on why Prince Eric is the worst when I found this:
I'm sorry, what? Are we even watching the same movie? Eric didn't ditch Ariel for Ursula (or rather her alter ego Vanessa), he was hypnotised into thinking that she's the one. I might be biased because Eric is my favourite Disney prince, but it's not hard to miss it in the movie.
Believe me, Grim, when I find her, I’ll know. Without a doubt, it’ll just, bam, hit me, like lightning.

This is the best movie that I have seen in 2023. It is movies like these (from the repost above) and moments in these movies that make me realize that true love is real and it is possible.
Not to mention the way that Eric pulls Ariel closer instead of pushing her away.

the fact that we can tell EXACTLY what eric is thinking, how he goes from realizing ariel is a mermaid to recognizing that there's a bigger thing to focus on and he'll process the reveal later, when the woman he loves isn't in danger.
how he immediately looks down at ariel and sees her expression, he sees how terrified she is, because for the past three days he's done nothing BUT learn how to read her expressions, so he knows her fears without her having to say anything, and his only thought goes to "keep her safe, keep her here, keep her close"
and can we please talk about the physical affection between these two???? how ariel's hand goes from laying on eric's chest to holding onto his shoulder, how eric goes from just kind of holding ariel up to pulling her as close as he possibly can, curling himself around her and surrounding her in his arms, fully prepared to take the brunt of ursula's power if it comes down to it. because she's his world, and he refuses to lose her again.
and eric's GLARE??? HELLO???? the man just realized that the silent girl he's fallen in love with and the girl who saved his life is the same person and he just wanted to kiss her and celebrate that but now he is PISSED and he just wants to live happily ever after so he can and will do everything he can to get that ending for him and ariel.
