It was hard to tell what the humans wanted from me. I had to run a strange direction to jump the hurdles. The barn's hay felt spiky and sharp on my coat. I couldn't eat the feed. I was too fidgety on the race track. I always pulled away when they tried to trim my hooves. I couldn't be out in the meadow for too long when there was sunlight. My horn got caught on ropes all the time."] [The unicorn foal is settled under the shade of a towering oak tree against a backdrop where a pair of horses are racing with humans. The text reads: "Is this a gift, or a curse? Life's gracious work of art or its experiment of patience and might? No one could decide, I certainly couldn't. When the afternoon keeps passing, the fresh breeze on the field and the dappled sunlight teasing, I try to gallop with the narrative. Maybe this is a good thing. However, most days, I cannot help but wonder what it feels like to run free without worrying about your inevitable tumble. Perhaps it is a mean old trick."]
