Mordecai is a very untrusting cat so it took him years to tolerate Viktor let alone trust him
When Mordecai realized he had feelings for Viktor he decided he would ignore them until they went away (they didn’t)
Viktor just had a very conflicting time falling in love again, lots of booze and staring at the ceiling later he accepts his fate

Neither wanted to admit feelings for each other
They both just kinda sat with their feelings hoping they would go away

They are very awkward about the whole thing
Viktor is the only cat allowed to see drunk Mordecai
Drunk Mordecai will constantly ramble about how much he loves Viktor and so on
Once sober he will hide in his room from embarrassment
Viktor finds this amusing
Mordecai is the only cat allowed to come up to Viktor on his blind side without getting murdered
They are very private so literally no one knew of their status as dating
Actually Zib managed to pick up on it, but its not his business so he doesn't care
No PDA 0 PDA both Mordecai and Viktor have a reputation to maintain and they don’t enjoy touches anyway
However occasionally after a bootlegging job they will intertwine tails with each other
First “kiss” was a spontaneous drunk Mordecai act of pecking Viktor’s cheek
Once he sobered up he didn’t show his face to Viktor for a week
One time after massacring a rival gang and both sitting in the car Viktor just took initiative and kissed Mordecai
Mordecai attempted and failed at hiding from Viktor by crawling into the backseat muttering about how he definitely did not enjoy that he enjoyed that
When arguing sometimes Viktor will switch to Slavic and Mordecai to Yiddish so neither will know what the other is yelling about
Viktor normally switches first and Mordecai switches out of pettiness

Mordecai could barely pull the trigger and after he kneecapped Viktor ran away and cried
Vikor felt very betrayed and very backstabbed
Mordecai felt very guilty and very sad
In the Marigold gang he’s grouchier, and skinnier and far more tired (not that anyone can tell)
Viktor is colder, and talks less even to Ivy
A part of Viktor resents Mordecai
Mordecai sometimes wishes that Viktor would just find him and put a bullet in his head he thinks he deserves it
Mordecai is scared to sleep since he tends to dream about kneecapping Viktor and wakes up scared

Mordecai Heller GN dating Headcanons
Note(s) : Uh, so, I'm kind of going through a sexuality crisis while I write this, so the romance aspect is sort of lost, I'm sorry.
I think he'd most appreciate somebody who won't dance around subjects, he can't read emotions well and so people being coy just doesn't make any sense to him, he prefers somebody that's straightforward.
Mordecai is fairly demanding, but he doesn't mean it to be a dick, he just has preferences and won't be with you if you aren't them. He doesn't expect you to bend over backwards and only do things he likes, so he won't bend over backwards only doing things you like.
He'd frankly prefer you to have a style that's symmetrical and clothing that's clean and proper, if you can't afford that or have an unsymmetrical face or body, he tends to stare a lot and be more snarky towards you. Mordecai won't end the relationship over that, it just bothers him a little.
But he's more than willing to pay for symmetrical clothes, or just steal the clothes off of a corpse for you.
He wants to teach you how to use a gun, just so you can defend yourself in emergencies. Mordecai always keeps a gun hidden by your bedside table, just in case of a break in.
That is if you aren't already working for Asa / know how to use a gun already, in which case he's slightly less overbearing but will still insist on sharpening your skills a little.
You two may or may not live together, it just depends on what both of you are comfortable with. He definitely doesn't want to share a bed, he'd only want to sleep with you if it's a situation where you need to, or you just fall asleep from exhaustion on the couch or something.
You and him keep your relationship secret in case somebody could use it against you, but somehow, someway, Serafine and Nicodeme find out. Mordecai has no idea how, neither do you, they just... Did.
Serafine and Nicodeme tease you two about your relationship all the time, luckily never in public. Cheesy things like 'aww, you two look so cute together', just to see Mordecai's face drop, he's mortified whenever he sees the siblings and you happen to also be near.
If you two were together when he was working for Lackadaisy, I imagine that he was the one trying to convince you to leave for Marigold. Your relationship could end over this if you refuse to leave, and while he'll hesitate in killing you, he won't be afraid to shoot you in the leg if you end up on a mission against each other.
Mordecai doesn't like PDA at all, it makes him feel awkward and uncomfortable, especially in really crowded areas or where people who know him are. If you try to initiate a hug or a kiss he sort of just stands there in complete and utter disgust or begins hissing.
He's not cuddly or lovey dovey when you two are alone, either, he gives you a small kiss on the cheek if it's been a hard mission and you're injured, but it's a little stiff and he clearly only did it to make you feel better.
Mordecai is semi okay with hugging, it just depends on when and where, if you two are alone? Here, a quick side hug. If you're in a crowd? Don't even touch him he will probably transform into a ficus.
Surprisingly he's an alright dancer, just only when he's alone, and maybe if he's alone with you he can dance with you. He can appreciate the symmetry and beautiful hard work that goes into more classical dances, like ballroom dancing or ballet, but he despises the free form moves of things like Jazz, it's too liquid and unpredictable for him.
WARNING FOR BLOOD ON SOME PANELS
Lackadaisy's color scheme and lighting analysis Pt.1
A thing that many people have already noticed in the Lackadaisy comic, though intrigues me very much is the color palette changes. You see, in the beginning of the comic, we have a soft sepia, but when the Pig Farmer's raid happens, the soft ambiance gradually darkens to expose the tension and character's feelings better. (This can be considered as the lighting of the night time, too.)
By the end of Volume One, the light colors are back, though the readers are aware of the hidden climate, seeing the car window full of bullet holes in the background (Not necessarily related to the raid, but general gang violence).
At Lackadaisy Demurral and Lackadaisy Hamstring, they both darken, making us, the viewers, focused, so we pay better attention. We get to see Mitzi's attempts to keep the Speakeasy functioning (Although not so strong, unfortunately) along with a small, yet essential piece of Mordecai's plans working as one of the Marigold's, frantically unraveling every piece of information he can find at his reach (Which is in fact, quite important to the story as it goes on).
Jumping to Lackadaisy Briar-patch and Lackadaisy Mephistopheles, Mitzi and Sedgewick sit in a generally dark room, as a single sun ray shines through the upper window, hitting them both as Mitzi discusses her proposal with Wick, reflecting the hope she has on that deal. In a way, he used to be her angel of salvation, but it did not take long for her attempts to go downhill.
When Mitzi goes to Zib in Lackadaisy Mystique, there is a light behind her, full of moths. I'd like to say this represents their relationship in some sort of way. Moths follow the moonlight, Mitzi is Zib's light. He loves the light so much he gets hurt because of it. Mitzi, on the other way, used to be the moonlight, she was everything he cared for. But now, she is artificial, damaging the one who follows her.
We can also see this lighting metaphor in Lackadaisy Blood-money. Zib looks up at her right after being hit by the same. The remains flicker ever sightly behind Mitzi in the form of a streetlamp. Slowly yet, desperately, she is rapidly transforming onto what her husband was, trying her best to take his place in this cruel world of crime. Zib is aware of it, it pains him to know that once the light that shone the musician a path became cold, artificial and careless unless for interest. He needs that money, but at what cost? Watch Mitzi lose everything she had. Her money, her happiness, her husband, her soul. I see the streetlamp Mitzi walks forward to as a sorrowful representation of her dead husband, Atlas. The fact that had he had done dirty work multiple times on his career is what Mitzi is transforming onto. Zib knows the origin of all the blood money he received, but now having Mitzi as the giver is painful. Yet, there is nothing he can do about it. She sacrificed everything to become an empty shell of what Atlas once was, trapped in the delusion doing so will save his business, almost entirely dead, like Mitzi's and Zib's relationship, along the once successful band, destined to drift away to the country, featuring the loss of their star; Mary Ellen.

Benjamin meets Mordecai’s family once; when Mordecai made an effort to visit home during his mother’s passing. He and his Aunt Rosie got along the absolute best! Esther is not really a fan of kids so the relationship is cordial but kind. He only knew his grandmother for two days before her death but she was very happy to meet him, even briefly.
TW DEATH , TW MURDER
Mordecai was no longer in the business by this point. But as a final act of his former self, he went out on the eve of his mother’s death and killed his former adversaries that were keeping him from visiting. His worry was, if Benjamin ever sought to visit NY on his own, they might mistake him for Mordecai. Plus, the men seeking revenge on him were now significantly older than when they first encountered each other.
Because of social stigmas at the time, Mordecai essentially lied and said his wife had passed during childbirth.

This is gonna be two separate parts just to space things out! Let’s start with some Maríanne stuff!

MARÍ’S FAMILY:
Has an older brother with a 12 year age gap, his name is Estefan Villanueva (his name was changed it might change again). He took care of Maríanne when she was much younger. When he got older he found himself a husband with a kid. His future husband helped him raise Maríanne along with his own child.
Her parents are out of commission. It didn’t end well for them. Maríanne thinks about them sometimes but was mostly raised by her brother.
There are some extended family members in Mexico but some died during the revolution. But she has some aunts, uncles, and cousins still kicking!
MARÍ’S JOB:
Oh, yeah, it fluctuates. When she first arrived at Lackadaisy, she started working at the Daisy’s Cafe as a waitress. Taught Ivy the ropes when she came to work there.
Then to keep her mind busy, she becomes Mordecai’s assistant and does a bit of accounting (mostly in her head).
At the same time she starts to work out again and regains her strength, she catches the attention of Atlas. He put her as a trigger man but she always got hurt because she refuses to kill the enemies with a gun (this mentality won’t last forever) and only fights with her fists. She really tries Mordecai’s patience.
The last straw was when she took in a rival gang member and that’s when Mordecai insisted that she doesn’t join their trigger man ventures anymore. Of course, she is still brought along as extra muscle but only for negotiations, but she just cooks books with Mordecai for the most part.
DOES SHE KNOW ABOUT MARIGOLD?
Oh yeah. Yeah she does. When she finds about Mordecai joining them and betraying Lackadaisy, she’s pissed. Once she finds him, she tackles the hell out of him. After almost killing each other, they talked things out like civilized people (if pointing a shotgun and pistol at each other was civilized). They soon made a deal and allied with each other.

MARÍ’S RELATIONSHIPS/THOUGHTS Pt. 1:
Rocky 🎪🎭🎻:
As part of my “The Rattlesnake and the Jester” AU, they met on the road. After a few coincidences of meeting each other while Maríanne was traveling to Florida, they decided to stick with each other because why not, better than being alone. They do split off but not my by choice. Once they find each other again at Lackadaisy it was a joyous day!
They have a close relationship, always getting into trouble with each other. Performing together on the streets almost everyday made them in synch with each other, it frightens a lot of people when they mimic each other perfectly or say the same sentences at the same time. Chaotic in the streets and chaotic on the dance floors. Swear up and down, they can communicate telepathically by squishing their foreheads together. Their love is a little codependent (totally won’t backfire) but it’s a good one.
They act so stupid and goofy when they’re together, so much so it makes people underestimate them. Together they’re a dynamic duo and can swindle people in a heart beat with their combined charm. One moment you’re like “aww look how stupid they are” and next thing you know, whoops! Your wallet is gone. 🔥Partners in crime!🔥
Her first impressions of him: “He’s cute, funny, charismatic, weird, talkative, but I like it. I love hearing his frantic rambles and poetry, even though I don’t understand the bigger English words.”
Current thoughts: “I will die and fight for him (yep they’re getting together). I still think of him the same way but I understand his rambles now. I like joining in his chaos but I will pull it back once it gets too dangerous or it risks other people’s lives. He’s my safe space and wherever he goes, I follow. I don’t want to lose him again. “
Mordecai 🔪⏱️🔫:
Her mentor (Mordecai never agrees with it but it’s the truth). Back in New York, Marianne’s brother owned a shelter/soup kitchen where Mordecai and his family stopped by from time to time. Marianne’s brother hired Mordecai to be his accountant once he got to know him. Baby Maríanne always followed Mordecai around when he came to the shelter and watched him work. Despite being annoyed by this clingy little child, he’d let her watch because she stayed quiet.
During their prime lackadaisy era, it was no different. Maríanne would come into his office and watch him work or even help him (or tries to, she just ends up being more of an unpaid secretary instead of a fellow accountant cuz Mordecai is very picky).
First Thoughts-“I admire him and I aspire to be like him (people often wonder why). I try to adopt his menacing and stoic demeanor, but it never works. Next best thing is trying to be as agile and quick thinking as him. I really trusts in his advice and judgement. Often finding myself looking to him for answers but I’m not afraid to question them. He keeps me grounded and I’m grateful for the amount of times he kept my mind busy with work. Better than dwelling on the past. Occasionally, I fear him and fear for him. I don’t understand how he can be so cruel but I’m jealous on how quickly he can turn off his emotions. How does he sleep at night?”
Current thoughts: “Can I still trust him?”

Zib and the band🎺🎷🥁🎹🎻:
She loves them. They’ve helped her get through her toughest days and always went to them on her break. They’d sing and dance with each other to the annoyance of most. They f e e d into her gambling addiction (always tempted to gamble her house keys, cuz she believes she’s that good) and she always plays poker with the band. For fun she often plays their instruments, always reaching the trumpet more (iykyk). Marí always hangs with them until Mordecai has to drag her by the scruff to bring her back to work.
She’d mostly do some late night drinking with Zib and they both just wallow in self pity together. ✨Depressed drinking buddies✨ She’d often go to him to learn more about poetry and (before their reunion) would ask him to explain Rocky’s poems to her.
First Thoughts: “They’re fun! I understand why Mordecai refers to them as “lazy hooligans” but I always finds them as a place of peace to let loose. A bunch of talented cool cats! Deep down I want to sing with them on stage but the dance floor just calls to me.
Current thoughts: “They deserve better.”
Viktor 🔧⚒️🛻:
A friend but only talks to him on occasion. She know that Viktor pities her but she doesn’t take it to heart. Marí slightly fears him but sees him as a place to run when they’re creepy men tailing her.
First Thoughts: “Tall. Tall scary fluffy man. I find him incredibly intimidating but I want to be as strong as him. His unwavering strength encouraged me to get strong again. I always feel tempted to ask him to throw me at the enemies. Like a surprise attack! But he’d probably stare at me. I’m definitely going to use his stare as a negotiation tactic.”
Current thoughts: “I pity him.”

I posted the top part a while ago but never provided the context. Basically an elaborate meme I never got around to finishing. Mordecai would definitely be the last survivor in a zombie apocalypse. Honestly though, I don’t think I’ll finish it. I got bored 😬 figured maybe someone would find it a bit entertaining, despite the horrible rendering.

Atlas, Mordecai, and Viktor were coming from a business meeting and were heading back to Lackadaisy. Here’s what happens next:
