Chapter 8, (little)Part 1

Danny spent three glorious days playing through a video he hadn’t made time for yet, eating too much take out, and barely leaving his closet of a room. It was nice. While the break from all of the medical tests was easily the best part, it was also good to have a break from people. People worrying, people telling him off for being reckless, people caring even—Danny needed some time with just himself and his own thoughts.

Danny needed time coming to terms with the effects the event had on his body.

The hearing aids weren’t that bad, actually. He had a feeling that maybe that was because they’d been provided by the Justice League, but once he’d gotten used to having them in, they weren’t bad. It was even nice when riding the subway to be able to turn off the aid part, cut out some of the people noise, and use them as headphones. He was almost used to putting them in every morning too.

The tremor in his limbs was harder to get used to. Mostly it was when he was tired, though, and the better he got the less he got. He’d been warned that it would likely never go way, though, even after he finished the occupational therapy he had started. He’d just… have to meter his time a little more. He did that already with his chronic aches. He could manage.

He just needed the seizures to stay away.

(So far so good.)

Besides the mess that was his corporeal form, Danny also needed time coming to terms with the fact that he was apparently dating two people.

It was nothing to do with Wally and Dick—not exactly. They were both wonderful people and Danny would feel lucky to date just one of them. But Wally had fallen for Danny when he was isolated, in danger, and desperate. Dick had agreed to the arrangement when saying anything to Wally must have been a relief. And Danny had said yes while his life was not so slowly bleeding away to keep Wally there.

It wasn’t exactly the healthiest basis to form a relationship on.

Danny had wanted to take some time away from Dick and Wally to center himself and evaluate. What he found was that he missed them. He missed their easy, back-and-forth chatter. He missed how tactile they both were. He missed how they listened to him, even if what he was saying wasn’t important.

He missed them.

After a bit of hunting, Danny found his phone (under several pillows), and pressed dial. He hummed as he waited. When the call was picked up, he couldn’t help the grin that broke out. “Hey, Wally. How about that date you two owe me?”

idea: batman and the robins never acknowledge that there have been different robins. like they all act that there's only been one and that they're the same person basically.

Batman: what do you mean, it's robin.

Damian: i'm robin. i'm offended you would even ask that? don't you remember *proceeds to recite a story dick told him of his robin days*

Phantom stared at the monitor with baited breath. He had been alerted by the computers beeping and came to see what was going on.

Could this really be happening? After all this time alone in his lair, waiting, hoping for any sign that his last remaining friend was still out there, his ecto-signature finally showed up on his radar.

This had to be a trap.

But...what if it wasn't? What if Robin was really there? What if he was hurt and waiting for Phantom to come rescue him? The thought made his stomach drop. He knew what his birdy had gone through when he was still alive and he would rather feed himself to a pool of ghost piranhas than let Robin believe for a second that he had been abandoned again.

Grabbing the essentials and shoving them into a bag he rushed out of his lair. It had been years since he had seen his birdy and even longer since he had been in Amity Park or any other variation of the Living Realms. But this was for his best friend. For him he would do anything.

Which apparently included fighting his besties adoptive dad in the streets while he was in a full Gothic fursuit-Robin what the heck- Robin himself wasn't helping, he was just cheering Phantom on from the sidelines and giving him tips.

Phantom managed to get away from the bat and his other birds- how many did he have???- and had an emotional reunion with his best friend which included a lot of tears, mostly from him.

Okay, entirely from him. He was worried out of his mind for his birdy, sue him. Robin was mostly confused, saying he didn't remember disappearing, only that he felt more and more strange before he just...blanked. The next this he knew he was standing over this prone figure of a guy with a leather jacket and a full faced red helmet. Batman looked at him odd and Robin didn't hesitate to mock the man he once viewed as a father.

They fought for a bit with the younger vigilante using all the powers Phantom taught him along with his furry training to beat up the man who abandoned him to the mercy of one of his rogues.

Speaking of which. The very next thing Jason did was find the Joker and do everything the deranged clown did to him. Karma. It was on one of his later confrontations that Phantom appeared. Now the darker dynamic duo are running around Gotham being ghostly and more or less doing whatever they want.

Bruce was spiraling mentally. His second son lay in the batcaves infirmary stuck on life support because somehow, some way, his soul was knocked out of his body.

They needed to find some way to put it back in before that other teen "took him home" and Bruce really hoped that didn't mean what he thinks it means.

Duke: Jason, the only person who thinks you're a "bad boy" is you

Jason: I do illegal stuff all the time

Tim: So do we, we're vigilantes, remember?

Jason: I break into buildings- as a civilian!

Duke: Correction; you stay in libraries after hours, with permission, to read.

Did a quick painting of Nocturn vs Danny. This may or may not be a design idea I have for Nocturn’s true form in the comic. And…yeah, can’t tell too much.

So basically some concept art. Also getting familiar with more of Clip Studio Paint’s tools!!!

Imagine if you will, that if enough people died in a similar way or by the same person, and wanted revenge enough to form as ghosts, that they may form together as a collective ghost.

Say there was a collective ghost of Joker’s victims.

Say Jason became part of that collective after he died.

Say it’s pretty difficult to remove just a singular soul from such a large collective in a bout of spontaneous resurrection without dragging others along for the ride.

You might think that those extra passengers might be hanging around in the back of Jason’s head, making him…. pretty angry, and particularly Obsessive in his revenge even.

(Long story short if I wasn’t wasn’t making sense, Jason’s Pit Rage is just the voice/emotions of other -or even all- of Joker’s victims that make him lash out.)

I had no idea what a musky is so I googled it. Thank you for introducing me to the existence of Musk Deer they are so incredibly adorable.

now on that note, this idea is akin to If You Give A Bat a Burger so go check that out.

but this. this idea. its sUCH an incredibly neat concept. The voices of the ones who were killed by the Joker urge him to make the Clown Prince of Gotham pay for his crimes. They egg on Jason's anger. They must convince him to make the clown pay.

"Danyal, its time to end this game and return with me."

Danny should had known Clockwork had something in mind when he sent him on this mission. He knew he should had been suspicious of the time keeper when he noticed the little 'this is going to be fun' smile on his face when he sent Danny off into the portal.

"Get back here you demon spawn 2.0!"

But how was he supposed to know that he'd wake up in this world version of himself in a pit full of corrupted (AND NASTY) ectoplasim at the tender age of five or that when he swam up to the surface he'd be meeting face to face with what was apparently a cult.

"-O just spotted him a block away! I'll try to cut itty bitty bridie off!"

An Assassins Cult his, new to him, loving yet a little insane mother was in charge of (though during the few months he stayed in the compound he heard rumors and gossip from maids and others alike that if his grandfather returned from the dead he'll take over once again, no doubt punish Talia for creating another heir after the failure of the last one, most likely was going to kill Danny and that... that was can of worms Danny didn't wanna deal with yet)

Danny had lived with his mother for a while after being brought back from the 'dead' for apparently the first time, it turned out training a five year old with an actual sword and a dumbass hidden revenge seeking teacher was a terrible idea.

"I swear if this one tries to murder me like the others I'm asking Zatanna if there is a curse on me."

He dealt with her high demands of perfection, the endless training, and the constant comparisons to his apparent older brother Damain... Who didn't know Danny, or rather Danyal existed.

Nor did his father (when Danny, using his powers he's kept hidden since 'waking' up in this Realm, he sneaked his way around the base and discovered how he came into the world. And tbh he couldn't blame his mom how she made him, she was an assassin first and foremost, being naturally pregnant would had painted a target on her for to long... but he also felt it was unfair and an asshole move on his unsuspecting father as well)

"As your elder brother I demand you to stop running!"

Now don't get him wrong, he did like his new mother (total badass assassin lady and all that) and he knew she loved him in her own... deadly way. But yeah, she really shouldn't be taking care of kids. He could tell she struggled with wanting to be a normal mother but her first instinct after so many years was to be an assassin first.

Something she was trying to engrave into Danny with as well.

"Ah, hello Beloved. I see you've learned of our Danyal."

"Talia. Back away from him and leave Gotham now."

"I can not do that. The League needs an heir and since Damian refuses to return... I have decided to create a new one and I shall not be leaving until he returns with me."

"Talia."

Hence why when Danny, or rather Danyal al Ghul had gotten decent control over his powers he decided to leave the League. Again nothing wrong with the life his mom leads, to each their own, but he... really, really didnt want to be an assassin. Or an assassin heir.

So here he was, after almost a year on the run, using his powers and training to out smart and out maneuver his mother and her many band of Assassins, in Gotham. One of the last places he ever wanted to run to cause he knew his father and brother lived here.

It was just his luck that his mother had managed to intercept his train ride that passed into Gotham for a few hours and forced him to run into the city...

Add her assassins into the mix and running into Robin, who heard from Oracle his mother had been spotted chasing a young boy across the city, that same night.

After that it became a full on "catch me if you can" chase for not only his mother but for the batclan as well.

And after two whole days of chase, it seemed like the final showdown was about to begin because everyone was on top of this rooftop, his mother and her assassins on one side, his father and the batclan on the other and Danny well... he was right in the middle of all of it.

He just had to hope no one would notice him once the fighting started...

My grandma introduced me to this show. I love watching with her but haven’t been doing as often as before. Just realized that it made me have lots of interesting conversations that I didn’t realize (till now) could be important

my grandma is old over 90 and our birthdays past recently (they are very close together so we usually celebrate together) I like how this show may be strange but it sometimes has good messages and makes the viewer think about there impacts and reasoning

this honestly just came out of left fucking field i would have never expected to hear anything like this in this show. consider me Pleasantly Surprised tbh

Phantom is missing.

The Justice League and the Justice League: Dark have been searching for the spirit for weeks. Everyone available is searching, and not a single hero or hero-adjacent has heard a word.

Even the city spirits have gone silent, according to Zee and Constantine. The Gods of Shazam know nothing.

No one wants to or even knows how to find a Realms being who doesn't want to be found. And that has to be it, there's no other explanation for why there hasn't been any sightings of Phantom since the G.I.W. made a surprise move after the latest big "event" the JL called in Phantom for.

The League had been tangentially aware of the G.I.W. and their actions against the Realms and the denizens of them, and had been working within the word of the law to dismantle them. Seeing them in person was a new thing, especially with how fervently they chased Phantom as he sassed and blew raspberries, treating them like cartoon villains instead of a truly evil organization halfway to interdimensional war.

With an impish grin and a few quips, he had assured them he'd be okay, but they hadn't seen him since. That was over a month ago.

Danny, meanwhile, is chilling in a hammock on the far side of the moon, with a pound of his dad's fudge, a thermos full of Ectoplasm, and another full of soup from Tucker's mom.

Going to ground has never been so relaxing.

He wonders what kind of mess the heroes might be in, but he isn't going to go back until Sam and Tucker send him the all clear.

Tim is... not 100% sure why his entire family just broke into his Nest.

He's pretty sure it's because he hasn't been showing up for many patrols the last week or so. Maybe it's because he hasn't shown up for breakfast in a while. Maybe it's because he didn't show up for Family Dinner last night.

None of which is exactly or entirely his fault. He's been busy.

It's not his fault he fell into that alley and sprained his ankle. It's not his fault help found him before he could call for it.

It might be his fault that he didn't call for help anyway, but what was he supposed to do when a three and a half foot tall black-haired blue-eyed boy who looked shockingly like a smaller version of himself asked for his help taking down an organization that, turns out, was more illegal than being a Vigilante. And acting as a Vigilante was still pretty damn illegal.

It might also be his fault that he was currently blinking blearily up at a disapproving Batman, snickering Red Hood and Nightwing, and a Black Bat who was carding gentle fingers through the hair of said boy who was napping in his arms. No matter how old Danny said he was before, "just before," he was still currently in a body that needed naps. Intentions being as they were, he had wanted to get back to work, but tucking Danny in had quickly turned into a group nap when the younger didn't want to let go.

"Care to explain?" Batman grumbled, his mouth a fine line that betrayed how worried he'd been.

Tim tried to think of how to explain the last while of radio silence as he dove into research and learning how to take care of a toddler, decided that took way too much effort and he wanted nothing more than to go back to sleep, and just grumbled back, "Nap time, B, go away."

Did Danny abuse the fact the GIW needed his parents tech. Yes of course. Danny not phantom seemed to be the trouble maker as of late. His parent threatened to withhold tech and blue prints from them if the GIW touched their kids.

Did he get caught breaking ember and boxy out of a government facility? yes. He expected the lecture he got.

The next jail break. It was not him. It was sam, Then the third. Also not him. That was Val… then it was Tucker. But not him.

The blame fell on him.

He did not expect to be shipped out of state. The GIW were happy to cover all costs. Even got him into a decent highschool. And had an apartment all arranged.

Gotham?

Not where he was expecting.

The assassination attempts. Also surprising.

Not so surprising. Tucker found out the GIW wanted to “silence” him. Offering a lot of money.

Of course his parents don’t listen. He is 15 perfectly fine to be all alone. Even if he is near some place with the nickname crime alley. Nope. He is just being dramatic. They tell him no one wants him dead.

Waylon Jones finds Danny hiding in the sewers

Waylon was used to people seeing him as a monster. He had been called a freak or a monster since childhood, with people sneering at him and looking down on him for what he looked like.

Waylon could count on one hand the number of people who treated him like a normal person. Grundy was one. Roy was another. Harley treated him fine.

Danny was the first time someone had seen him and not even reacted. Danny just shared his food with him, smiling at him and chatting about random things. He didn’t mind Waylon’s scales or the sharp teeth. He just accepted it.

Danny saw him for him.

So when Danny, with bright green eyes and his hood finally down and showcasing the pale pointed ears and green blush, admitted why he was down in the sewers? When the small boy traced a hand over surgical scars Waylon had never seen before as he whispered about the group calling him a freak?

Well, Waylon had been seen as a monster for a long time.

Why not prove them right?

Jason Finds a Notebook in Danny's drawer, Big Capital letters on its cover written as 'Labels', He raises an eyebrow as he inspects and opens the notebook. "What's this about??" He asked, Turning his head to Danny before reading the text. "Oh that's my nicknames for people cuz I tend to forget names a lot." Danny shrugged nonchalantly as Jason flipped through the pages.

He stared dead silent for a moment at his name and it's 'labels', blinking in disbelief. "WHY DO YOU HAVE ME AS 'ANGER ISSUES', 'FUNNIER THAN JOKER', AND 'HE WHO PROBABLY HAS A FURSONA'?!" Jason read the other labels in disbelief.

His gaze landing on Bruce's 'labels', barking out a laugh as he read the first one out loud. " YOU HAVE B AS 'AUTISM SPECTRUM'?!" He yelled out with a wide amused grin, Danny laughing softly, "I mean... Just look at him..." Danny shrugged making Jason laugh out even more.

They just help him build the potal so he doesn’t starve/continue to die. Just super helpful and don’t ask questions they don’t want the answers too.

Danny does Science

Danny is a chemist who posts videos online of random experiments he does. Each video is a little unhinged, he says some out of pocket stuff and the editing is gold. (I’m thinking like NileRed on YouTube but mix it with that funny cooking guy from TT)

He does all of his experiments in his parent’s lab when they aren’t using it.

Most of the videos are educational, entertaining and just an interesting watch. Giving how he explains the components, process and uses of each and every experiment he does.

Sure every now and then he gets shot at or attacked by automated weapons or the giant doors open behind him to show off a swirling void of green that comes with ungodly sounds. And yeah maybe his science comes to life when he isn’t looking and tries to ambush him from behind.

But it’s still educational. Just very interestingly educational.

i like this head cannon its sweet. i have not finished the show yet but i get these vibes from him. he is so funny and smart

If you have siblings then you know that your parents will and have mistaken your name for your siblings before giving up and saying, “you know who you are!” and you just go over. Or what about when you and your siblings have even one sound of your name that sounds similar and you mistake that name as yours and then you realize it wasn’t you being called but your siblings. Or how about when you were a kid you accidentally followed a person who looks like you mom/dad which is very awkward?

Yeah so, I’m thinking this: Dick called out to Dami when they were out but at the time Damian was mad with Dick so he didn’t go to him, but Danny did since Dami sounds similar to Danny if you don’t listen that well enough not realizing it wasn’t Jazz calling for him. 

This just led to Dick walking all over Gotham with Danny without realizing that this was not this little brother (yet), Danny just going along with the ride because this dude thinks he is this ‘Dami’ person and wonders if there was another clone of his that got adopted somehow, Damian is fucken pissed because Grayson left him at the store and Jazz is now slowly coxing this little boy with very bad anger management issues and slowly warming up to him (and vice versa)

The chase begins.

(To be honest it would be just funny if no one in the Batfam realizes that Danny was not Dami at first because they are all busy with something else to be bothered by the youngest at the moment (except for Cass, Duke and Alfred but they are either not there yet or have their reasons to keep quiet) and they all leave for patrol. Just imagine the Batfam being slightly amazing but Robin’s new “six-sense” and taking down criminals one after another without majorly wounding them. It’s a Gotham miracle!

It just keeps dragging on and on until Danny does something nice for Tim before they all do a double take because Damian would never be nice to Tim of all people willingly, like-

“So, who adopted the new orphan?”

Danny was a little offended by this, Damian (after catching up after some certain obstacles happen (which these obstacles led for Jazz to know he is Robin which I find hilarious)) is just mad and decides that Danny can take his place as the younger brother and refuses to leave Jazz after have a few days to a week of bonding time. She kind of reminds him of both Cain and Grayson with some of Drake’s bad selfcare habits. Clearly, she needs protection of some sort as she would surely would have not survived in Gotham without him. 

Mostly a crack idea but go ham on this if yall want

Alright, random idea about the Twin AU, or any AU where Danny is an Al Ghul. Everyone knows that Ra's has an entire army of assassins, but what about the dead assassins? I doubt Ra's is dipping everybody in the Lazarus pit.

So, what if they went to the ghost zone?

And then when Danny dies, these assassins, who are extremely loyal to the Al Ghul family, immediately start following him.

The main assassin in charge, I'm gonna call him Carl, whose been around since the very beginning of the league, who was Ra's right hand man, starts acting as Danny's second in command basically becoming his Alfred.

Carl orders some of the assassins to help Danny out with some small stuff, like distracting some of the rouges so he gets to school on time, killing the hotdogs in the fridge so the little prince doesn't die of poisoning, setting off a Fenton invention so Danny get make a getaway. He definitely orders them to not interfere in big fights, unless Danny really needs the help, as a way for Danny to learn how to fight.

Carl has no idea who the GIW is, but he's gonna find out and then he's gonna blackmail/threaten/unalive some people.

Danny doesn't even know that he's suddenly gained a ghost army, all he knows is that there's a few helpful ghosts hanging around that really hate hotdogs. And then when Danny becomes the ghost king, hoo boy. The assassins replace the old ghost kings army, set up their own system and chains of command just completely change everything. Carl takes FrightKnights place as the king's right hand man/ bodyguard, makes sure all the members of the royal family are safe and is ready to fist fight the time ghost if he makes one more attempt to get his job.

Danny: I wanna be an astronaut. Carl who has no idea what that is: Sure, just let me do some info gathering and blackmail some people. Danny: What? And imagine the batfams reaction.

Danny stared at the guy wearing what he could only describe as a superhero cosplay, complete with a cape, a mask, and a symbol on his chest. He had just gone to the lab to grab some spector deflectors for him and his friends since they would be gone on a camping trip for a few days, and his mom wanted them to be extra cautious.

Then this random guy showed up via a portal spawning in the middle of the lab holding the Fenton Portal Gun.

"Huh, so that's where that went." His dad had been showing it off at the breakfast table about a week ago and fired it as a demonstration. Unfortunately, the portal had suction and sucked the device right out of his dad's hand, and the portal snapped shut.

His dad had needed to be cheered up with emergency fudge after that.

In response to Danny's words, the guy gave a glare so chilling that Sam would be green with envy. Okay, maybe this guy was a villian.

Not so super guy pulled out a katana and pointed it in Danny's direction (more points towards villiany), "Where am I? Are you the one who made the device?"

"No? And this is my basement?"

Suddenly, another portal appeared, and a guy who definitely looked like a supervillian with little horns on his head walked through, holding what looked like a sleek black version of the Fenton Portal Gun. Bat logo, of course, because stealing tech and blueprints were never enough for these guys, was it?

The guy stood there glaring with his son(?) when Danny noticed a bat logo on the man's chest, and Danny realized the little horns were actually ears. Ha!

Bat guy starts growling out demands and threats but Danny didn't really pay attention. He'd heard worse from his own bad guys. He wasn't in the business of fighting human weirdos so instead he turned and yelled up the stairs, "Moooom! There's evil furries in the basement again!"

"What?!" His mom yelled back, already running towards them
