Quill - Five Minute Flash Fiction

I basically set my timer for five minutes, with the prompt ‘quill’ and this is what happened. Wrote this as a warm up before getting down to some more serious writing. Inadvertently named the characters after Lord of the Flies.

Dani's notes: Okay. This is my forever #1 fic rec. You won't (and shouldn't) be able to find it anywhere, because a couple of years ago Cat (the writer) decided to take her stories down. Still, I bring it up because I don't think you'll ever understand (unless you were here back then) how much that story blew everyone's minds! The plot was UNBELIEVABLE, and each chapter was always "the best thing i've ever read". Besides being an amazing and talented writer, Cat was also an extremely nice and kind person (you have no idea how long my feedbacks to her used to be and she always was patient enough to read everything and discuss the characters with me!! ugh I used to love that!!). Honestly, I will always and forever remember this story as the best Harry ff ever written.

2015 | MA  Summary (from the author): A best mate isn’t easy to come by — Oliver Rose knows this well. After losing the greatest friend she’s ever had, Rose is left with little more than an empty flat, a phone that she rarely answers, and a lack of respect from the public. Worst of all, her artistry has flown the coop with no signs of returning any time soon — much to the irritation of her record label. Now, with most of her time spent chugging screwdrivers and lying on her cold entryway floor, Rose barely makes time for one of the only friends she has left in her neighbor, Liam. She has even less time for Liam’s annoyingly endearing band mate, who takes it upon himself to learn what it is about Oliver Rose that makes her so dead confusing to him. Dani’s notes: Rose and Harry will be forever in my heart. Honestly, this fanfic is one of my favorites and Sary's writing blew my mind from the very beginning. Harry is famous in the story, but it isn’t a story about him, and it’s totally worth the read! I used to send Sary a lot of messages back then (I used to have a different blog), talking about each chapter and asking about her writing process and all that, and I always appreciated her very detailed answers. First time I ever wrote in English I even sent her an email so she could take a look and help me out lol. Such an amazing writer and person. It meant the world to me and until this day I go back to her writing to get some inspiration <3

2014 — 2015 | MA Summary (from the author): A story of Canadian stereotypes, negotiating success, and finding someone worth holding on to. Dani’s notes: This is a masterpiece. I can't even being to explain how much I admire the creativity behind this fanfic. It isn’t an AU, but I still truly enjoy this story and it’s absolutely worth reading because the plot is absolutely amazing. Please, read this. Cecilia is such an amazing character and the planning is truly inspiring.

2014-2016 | MA Summary (from the author): Fiona Kingsley is impatient, sarcastic, and almost always angry at something. It isn’t enough that she’s having a bad start of term, start of September, start of being single again. There’s also the annoying, clumsy boy that has taken up residence on her sofa because it’s closer to his work, an enthusiastic, slightly obnoxious flatmate that never goes out with the same girl twice, a best friend who’s too nice for her own good, and the constant disapproval of her parents for her to deal with. Despite being confident in the fact that she’s the most pessimistic person in the room at any given time, Fiona has somehow amassed an odd group of friends that balance the scale with their own (usually) upbeat personas, perhaps proving the idea that opposites really do attract. An AU in which Harry is an aspiring chef, Niall knows more about politics than he does girls, Zayn’s got everything figured out, Louis is too lazy to study, and Liam is worth more than he gets credit for. Dani’s notes: I love, love, love, love, LOVE this one. Seriously, I love it SO MUCH I can’t even explain it. You can only read it on mibba. Please read this!!

2013 — 2014 |  Summary (from the author): There were very few things Graceland Ainsworth believed couldn’t be fixed with a cupcake. A story about baking, snarling, and finding love in the most unexpected places. Dani’s notes: It’s not AU, but the story it’s not about Harry’s fame/work and Graceland and Harry are two incredible characters. They weren’t just “two characters”, you know? They were DEEP characters, extremely interesting and so captivating. Niall is also absolutely amazing here, so it’s a bonus. I go back from time to time just to read again, because the writing is just amazing. The sequel is mind blowing too! (It might contain some triggering content for some people, though.)

2014-2015 | MA Summary (from the author): While Graceland Styles believed there were very few things a cupcake couldn’t fix, she wasn’t so sure a southern red velvet could fix her marriage. A story about building, repairing, and starting from scratch. Dani’s notes: Completely amazing. Words can't even begin to explain how much I admire this story, the author, everything about it. Sequel of Sugar on the Asphalt.

Also, Natalie is the author so I have no doubts it’s completely amazing. I’m actually happy I can’t remember reading it because now I’m gonna start all over again lol.
