I’m not trying to be rude but your hetstaine fanfic is extremely similar to another creators fanfic that has the same pairing and same plot and everything. I’m just warning you this could be considered plagiarism. I’m contacting to original author to let them know because I believe what you are doing is not right. You couldn’t even change up the plot a little bit?
Oh my god, i’m so sick of this- if you scroll back on my page, you’ll find the author of the fic you’re talking about stating they don’t believe its plagiarism and are okay with me continuing to write. I would get the accusation if EVERYTHING was the same between the two stories but it’s just not- prostitution is a very common theme in fics and so is a sort of ‘saviour’ situation arising from it. The author of NYPW said themselves that their story was inspired by the film ‘pretty woman’, so would you consider that plagiarism too?
My story is set in a different time, no band, different story beats, different writing style etc. Plus, the future story is different, and I’ve got a lot of it planned out. Writing Dave as a drug user also doesn’t make my fic plagiarised because that’s how he was IRL, so of course it’d be a common thing to write about.
Also, you really don’t need to insult my writing!
Thank you to the person who responded on AO3 in my defence, I really appreciate it.
the plagiarism shit is so funny god forbid someone write a captain save a hoe plotline only one per fanbase guys. pack it up!!!!
I KNOW god forbid me and 5 trillion others want to write a dumb self indulgent saviour fanfic…NOT ALLOWED!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭
dave/james, 1980s no band au. prostitute dave, saviour complex james... multi-chapter fic this time, i have a vague idea of where i want this to go, so any of your thoughts would also be greatly appreciated!
